Being able to be healthy in life has a lot to do with what has happened to people before they were born. Proper nutrition, lifestyle and care of expectant mothers safeguard the health of the expectant mother as well as the baby.

There are many prenatal tests performed during monthly checkups of expectant mothers. Simple, but necessary tests, include weight, blood pressure and urine analysis for protein loss or sugar. More sophisticated tests obtained during pregnancy may include: Complete blood counts, blood typing (including Rh determination), rubella antibody screen, liver function studies, Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) or triple-marker (AFP, estriol, and hCG) screening for Down's syndrome or neural tube defects (such as spinal bifida), diabetes testing, ultrasound, and screening for vaginal infections or sexually transmitted diseases (Herpes simplex virus, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV/AIDS, Group B Streptococcus, or Chlamydia organisms) which may infect the baby during gestation or during birth.

Modern prenatal care is needed to give the expectant parents are higher degree of probability of a healthy outcome for both the expectant mother and baby. Clinical laboratory tests recommended during pregnancy are available to our customers.
